There is a substantial and vibrant French community today in New Mexico.
Santa Fe Accueil (www.santafeaccueil.com) promotes connections and friendship among and between the Francophile community and the various cultures in the Santa Fe area and New Mexico, and advances the knowledge of French culture, which has been part of the region’s legacy since the 1500s. It operates mainly in the greater Santa Fe area and organizes social activities, lecture series and other cultural events, French language courses, activities benefiting the community, and orients French-speaking newcomers to Santa Fe.
The Alliance Française in Albuquerque (http://www.afabq.com/) also promotes French language and culture, a major activity being the organization of French courses.
There are also many French businesses, professionals, intellectuals, scientists and artists who have settled in New Mexico. The French-American Chamber of Commerce for the Rocky Mountains Region promotes the French-American Business Community in the region and supports French-American companies with their trade needs.
The French Consulate in Los Angeles (http://www.consulfrance-losangeles.org/) provides administrative support to the French in most of the American West.
